Logo and packaging design for a company I created. This project involved creating our own company and designing the logo as well as the packaging for the company’s product. I came up with a honey company called Big Dipper Honey Company. Since usually honey companies have similar designs that feature old southern styles, cute bees, and Victorian designs, I wanted to steer away from that. Though honey dates back to 6,000 years ago, I wanted to represent it in a more modern take. The name came from the actual action of dipping a honey stick into the honey, hence Big Dipper. The name is not to aid to an idea of “space honey” but is something that is recognizable by almost any audience while still suggesting the honey side. The design of the label features a pattern I created. It has hexagons through it aiding to the honeycomb idea of honey with linear elements on top. The linear designs are to create that sort of minimalist modern look as well as slightly celestial. I outlined the label with metallic gold for the modern look and di-cut some of the hexagons to let the honey show through to relate to the gold trim and the idea of stars that hints in the name. The box is just a simple box showing the design that is featured on the label and is meant to be a boxed honey gift since this project was done right before the holidays.
