Mission: A new coffee bag and packaging system
Challenge: After growing to Sweden’s second largest specialty coffee roastery, da Matteo was in need of a new design and packaging solution for their coffee bags. Previously, they distributed the coffee beans in a standard bag from a catalog assortment, manually labeled and stamped. The manual process was a time consuming job and since da Matteo now had the means to produce bags with their own design, they saw this as an opportunity to communicate their product in a new way. An extensive work to figure out how to do this was undertaken.
Solution: A preprinted bag, in three sizes, with a completely new design that da Matteo is first to use on the Swedish market. On the bag, a digitally printed transparent label is placed for each coffee variety. The label is then printed with batch number and date. This means that each coffee variety could have its own design. By developing new bags and a new packaging system for da Matteo, I reduced their package handling from seven to three steps.
