From humble beginnings as a home brewing project, Haandbryggeriet eventually became a well renowned microbrewery with international exposure. As good as their hand made beer tasted, their branding and packaging was severely lacking. The identity failed to sufficiently communicate the personality and values of the company, and had become more and more fragmented.
The existing packaging lacked focus, clarity and cohesion. To solve these problems we decided to completely reinvent the identity starting with the packaging system.
The new identity and packaging is based on the simple, unblemished honesty of traditional norwegian artisanal craftsmanship. It doesn’t brag, it doesn’t yell out for attention — in a way it embodies the very essence of the norwegian mentality.
This was a school project made at Buskerud and Vestfold University College in the autumn of 2013.
