This was a collaborative, conceptual, packaging design project for a brand of eco-friendly, sustainable bamboo cutlery. We approached naming the product first. The combination of the words “environment” and “utensil” gave us “e-tensil”, a name that evokes familiarity with those who are not acquainted with the spork. The logo design was inspired by the recycling symbol. Keeping a cradle-to-cradle approach in mind, we reflected the simple organic feel of the product. We designed a rigid, reusable box with a rice paper strip closure. We achieved our goal of creating a package that’s tough enough to take on a camping trip and elegant enough to sit on a kitchen counter.
